Blues Status

Award Criteria

Full Blues and Half Blues are awarded to anyone who competes for the Blues Team at the Varsity Match, including in relays, and achieves the required Full or Half Blue standard at any point during that academic year. 
Full Blues and Half Blues for the marathon are awarded to the top 4 eligible Oxford University Athletic Club finishers (who make up the Marathon Blues Team) at the London Marathon who also achieve the Full or Half Blue standards in the marathon in the same academic year. 
Para-athletes who achieve the set standards and compete at BUCS outdoors will also be awarded Full and Half Blues. 
Those not achieving the set standards may be awarded Discretionary Full/Half Blues by their captain provided the Blues Committee President feels it is appropriate. 
The Full Blues and Half Blues Standards are equivalent to those that will be advertised on the club website. Both indoor and outdoor marks are eligible. Wind-assisted performances will be converted, using established formulae, to non-wind-aided performances that can be compared directly to the Blues standards. Official 5K road times are eligible for achieving the 5000m track standards. For the avoidance of doubt, competing in the Marathon Blues Team does not confer eligibility to achieve an OUAC Full or Half Blue in a different athletics event.
